Fish Bowls...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I always wonder how companies sleep at night knowing that they advertise their tiny tanks as goldfish tanks, and don't make any other efforts to educate their customers on proper care. Last week i was considering writing letters to the companies, but i fear that one letter from me would not do much in the long run.

as always, people will do anything for a quick buck. i didnt ever see the logic in a fishbowl, no filtration is not fishkeeping. how would you feel swimming in your crap all day? and running out of air at that!

I must admit I have used fish bowls, both the drum style and the old fashioned low cylinders. I used small UGF and box filters in them and kept mainly tiny local fish or a crayfish in them, a one gallon flat cylinder type with a small sponge filter, some gravel and rocks, and a sprig or two of plants works well for a single crayfish or a pair of brook sticklebacks.

lol, fish bowl is ok , with build in sump tank, aeration, and frequent waterchanges that is provided , and of coz 100 gal and above.:)

A 100g fish bowl would be cool with maybe 4 full grown common goldfish

I learned my lesson with fishbowls, I don't even like keeping bettas without some filtration or temperature control, it makes a difference to me,

People are mean , i work for my local pet store and people try to put anything in a bowl . Like onetime someone asked me if they could put a Clown fish in a bowl. I was like 1 itsa saltwater fish 2 it would starve of oxegen.

i allways felt bad watching elmo's world with my nephews.
i swear that poor goldfish dorothy changed every episode... i wonderd how many gold fish the show would go thro. and then i thought about how much it would suck being stuffed into a bowl, having bright lights and cameras and ppl and then a furry red monster screaming and giggling around u :nilly: OHGOD!

Yep, I had my male betta in a small fish bowl with light, the box was labeled, "Betta Bowl" he was only in it for a few days and I decided he was unhappy. I took him out and put him in my 30gal. goldfish tank and he has been lovin' it ever since. Yeah, fish bowls are a big NO NO!!!! Let's educate these people about how to care properly for their fish.
