Fish Food Discussion Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, right from their website... After I asked and the man I was emailing agreed, I found out they were doing a promotional free sample in the mail with proof of purchase seal from your former/current food.

So, you could either email them and ask for one, or see if they are still doing the free sample with POP seal thing. ;)

This is why I won't use HBH products anymore. A good food company would know what's going into their food.

I use Hikari and OSI.

This melamine scare from China affected a lot of our food products as well as baby and pet foods. My 2 cents most products made in China are designed to be junk and not fit for long term consumer use.

Not sure I understand your statement though? Seems HBH posted this warning on their web site?

HBH Pet Products, Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain fish found to contain the contaminant melamine. Listed products are included in the recall;

Im planning to use the European shrimp mix for m frontosa , ill post how it goes .

I've always been personally a healthy eater, I read my own food labels. And since my fish are my kids, I'm even more picky. I'm willing to try most brands at least once, after reading the label if I like what I see. Hikari excel I'm very impressed with as a floating pellet. I've seen some very nice growth on my juvi oscar, without needing to really suppliment more protein intentionally. though he does steal some of the needle fish's minnows, and the fire eels frozen bloodworms. I've also starting giveing my Bichirs it and really like the natural color and size they are gaining as well. ON prime reef is the only food I carry that is more marine based the fw based. I try and feed my fish as close to their natural foods, particularly the concept of giveing FW fish FW foods. earthworms, blackworms, minnows. a low ash content and I stay away from color enhanceing foods like hikari gold, not because I've personally had problems with it. But because I think natural coloration of my fish can better be acheived by a varied and HQ diet almost exclusively. If i'de eat it.. It gets tossed into the tank for my fish to try.

Well, I'll be placing another order with kensfish.com.

Has anyone tried the 9.5mm Aqua Stable pellets? If so, how big are they, compared to say, a thing of chapstick? I just want to get an idea of if my polypterus are big enough to eat that yet...

Other than that, I'll make a list of what I ordered before I place the order Friday. I love ordering from there... I don't even eat the stuff and I get excited everytime I place an order. :D
