Where ever theres water a wees I fish, that where you catch fish. you gotta keep the fishes head up and it goes where you want it to go. But as I stated many times before I fish with power pro so when you do get a big fish that goes where it wants, you have a chance.

I went today for couple of hours by weed area. It was only Acaras and few 6 inch Peacock bass .

I dont fish those areas well as find it a pain . Granted lots fish there.

Why would line make such a difference?.

Why does line make a difference, well if your fishing with medium action rod and say 8lbs line and your drag is set accordingly and you get a 8lbs ~ 12lbs fish on. In open water you not going to have a problem. But I see very few big Bass in open water, Bass are cover fish. So especially around weed beds, lilly pads or reeds big fish will often tie you up in them. With 8, 10 even 12 or 15 pound test on a good tie up your gonna break off.

Is the second tank picture of a mayan cichlid, it looks very similar to one but the spot behind its eye would be unusual of a mayan cichlid

I agree that Jamaica bay is a great place to fish, just not fishing from Canarsie Pier. I fish Jamaica bay all the time, but from floyd bennett field or Breezy Point, which is the mouth of the bay. I've pulled some monster Striped Bass out of the bay.

do you fish the breezy point jetty a lot? I may know you lol, I live at the tip of that death trap of a jetty.

Nice Striper!!! No I don't fish it that much as I don't have a car in NY anymore so I have to depend on friends with cars to go fishing. But when we fish we normally fish either the bay side of Breezy Point or the Ocean side but in Fort Tilden. The stone jetty of Breezy Point is a dangerous place, even if you not on the rocks. Plus knowone has a 4x4 so it way too long a walk with a fish, waders and gear.

Huge. Staten island has nice fishing. I used to go for Blues out of Freeport but know a few that loved staten island.

Places fished 1
Time fished 10 minutes
Time 5:20-5:30
Fish landed 2
I had a chance to fish for a very short time at a pond and out of 15 or so casts i landed a small bass and small bluegill. Be prepared... i will be fishing a lot more now, hopefully ever wednesdays and a few short trips at random times.
Nothing much but i finally got to reel SOMETHING in.
I didnt have the camera so no photos.
