SPOTS FISHED-3

TIME FISHED-6.5 HRS

FISH LANDED-I-8/Dennis-3

First spot of the day was "Etra". I was there at 9 and Dennis came out there at 9:30. I was able to get one small bass before Dennis got out there. Once Dennis came I landed one CP and another small bass and he was able to land three bass before we left at 11:30. It was a very windy day and I just wasnt really feeling it today but Dennis wanted to find another spot. He wanted to go to the amazon(as always) but we flipped a coin and I won, so we headed to the Lakewood spot.

We begun fishing at the Lakewood spot at 12:30. The wind was blowing super hard and the grass had died some but it was still alot around. I really was starting to think we should of just called it a day cause the wind, the leaves, and the grass was getting on my nerves. Dennis landed the first fish at 1:11 and at 1:13 I followed up with a MONSTER 3.14 that hit the spinny twice before it was hooked . Then things got very hard, the wind was gussting so hard that with only one motor running it couldnt move the boat. We didnt see any more action until around 3 when a monster CP smacked my spinny but got off as I was tring to swing it in the boat. The last action of the day was a small CP I landed on the lipless. I was restless and hungry so we gave up at 5.

I thought the day was over but on the way back to my house we had to pass by two of my old shore spots and Dennis said lets try one of them. So We hopped out and fished for a half hour. We both took one pole, he had a white spinny and I had a 1/4oz lipless. I banged 3 and he wasnt able to land any.

Not what I would call a excellent day but it could of been worst!!!

Nice catch. How do you fish areas like in pic 3 with all those "marsh plants" I stopped fishing areas like that because if fish heads into the weeds its a big pain.

Where ever theres water a wees I fish, that where you catch fish. you gotta keep the fishes head up and it goes where you want it to go. But as I stated many times before I fish with power pro so when you do get a big fish that goes where it wants, you have a chance.

The yellow perch are killing it right now. I caught my limit the other day, biggest is 14". Starting to catch some cats with a little more size to them too. Here my biggest so far, 6.25 lbs, 25". not huge, but bigger.

Really nice Yellow Perch.

I went fishing today at Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn. The current and wind were ripping (and freezing) and I skunked. I couldnt get a feel for my gear and didnt get a strike all day. The guy next to us managed to reel in a 6-8" Bluefish though

There is a scary thought, fishing Canarsie Pier. I hate fishing from that pier. The only two things I've ever caught from that pier are Weak fish and blue crabs.

I've been there 3 times and have caught Cunners and Bluefish :D
It's supposedly a great spot... I actually know people who have seen 30 lb Striped Bass come up there... I also saw a double-digit # Bluefish caught there...
I call J-Bay the wild west. In the past year alone, as well as dozens of game fish species, there have been sightings of Harbor Porpoises, large Sharks (Dusky and Sandbar) and even Seals/Sea Lions. The best spot is a place called Silver Hole, right next to Kennedy Airport.

Hey, just so ya know, it's not good to hold fish you intend to release with a rag or towel or anything absorbant. It removes their slime coat and leaves them vulnerable to disease. Just FYI :)

Thanks
The cat was impossible to de-hook without holding it (even with barbless hook) everything else I just lay on towel for a pic.

Those yellow perch are neat looking . Remind me a bit of young PB due to the stripes .

I agree that Jamaica bay is a great place to fish, just not fishing from Canarsie Pier. I fish Jamaica bay all the time, but from floyd bennett field or Breezy Point, which is the mouth of the bay. I've pulled some monster Striped Bass out of the bay.
