FISHING SEASON 09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good morning my fellow fishing fiends!!

I'm up and ready, Dennis and I are about to go out to Farrington. I'm going to try and land a northern pike today. People have been catching them up to 40lbs, for NJ that's big.

If I hook into one today I'll be ready, I went out and got a big behind net, 4" spoon, and some wire liters. If all else fails I'll atleast land some decent bass hopefully.

Stay tuned!!!

If you want to start fishing the bigger esox we should talk. Next time leave the wire leaders on the shelf. Florocarbon is the way to go. The only time I touch wire anymore is with some walk the dog glide baits.

There are some awsome plastics out there for big pike and musky that will out produce the old standby spoon.

In the fall go big or go home lol

Good luck buddy.

knowing your style cichlidfiend, i know you'll enjoy bulldog baits rather than the ol spoons...
anyway good luck and have fun! we'll be waiting for your upd's! :D

For pike that size nothing beats big bass spinnerbaits this time of yr, large chatterbaits do well. I wouldnt waste my time on wire leaders or spoons just straight 15 or 20 pound power pro tied to a spinner on a 7 ft M action rod. Talk about a good fight have your drag set, if you fight it right its teeth wont and shouldnt cut the line.

Another reason I use Berkley's Power Pro line would have snapped or cut through there line everytime. But they are go, it always happens your fishing in your own little corner of the world and bam dumb and dumber show up as if you were fishing in a bucket and without even asking wanna jump in where your at.

This is one of the reasons I don't go Salmon fishing in upstate NY, I hear it's shoulder to shoulder in the areas where they charge to get on the water. Can you imagine the common ground free areas. Heck I got an uncle in NC that carries a shotgun in his boat, I'm dam must be some real big Bass around these parts. Nope that's for the knuckles heads that always show up. :nilly:

And they closed my Thread on Fine Tequilas and Cognacs and people with refined taste, but they still have those threads on stretching and piercing
body parts. Well I guess theres no accounting for taste. :irked:

lol Berkly dosnt make power pro. Berkly makes Fireline which is junk. What type of salmon are do you have atlantics or kings? If they come from the ocean there atlantics which is a lot different then kings. A crowd fishing for kings is way worse then a crowd fishing for atlantics.

Dude I stand corrected Shimano makes Power Pro, Oops.

You know what i have know idea where these Salmon would be coming from since I've never fished for them before. But I'll assume that they are Atlantics because of the closeness to the Atlantic. I believe that they are Steelheads, but I don't no.

That was about the dumbest thing I've read in awhile. Just an FYI all salmon originally come from ocean run fish. The kings or chinook are Pacific ocean fish.

A crowd of people fishing for anything can be a trying experiance.

On another note as someone who has spent seasons fishing large esxocids I can sincerely say that tying straight with any superline will cost you fish. We use heavy florocarbon and wire leaders for a reason.

SPOTS FISHED-1

TIME FISHED-10 HRS

FISH LANDED-I-11/Dennis-3

The moon clock said that from 9:15-11:15 was the best time of day light hours to be fishing. I'll have to agree cause my first four fish were all decent, 2.8,3.2,2.12, and 3.7 :headbang2.

Before 12 came I landed nine amd Dennis got his first at 12:23. From there on the bite was slow for the rest of the day. My tenth fish came at 2:35 when a small Y-perch ran down on my crank bait. The crank bait also got me my last of the day about two hours later.

I tried to the spoon alittle but not for long periods of time. I wasnt feeling that confident in it so I would switch back to bass fishing. Dennis tied on the dancing eel I brought for him and he should of landed two CP's but both were able to get off. One of the CP's was 3lbs+. Dennis landed the last two fish of the day on the spinny, while we were headed back to the boat ramp.

No 5lb+, no Northern Pike and the bite basically shutting down at 12 and Ill still say it was a excellent day of fishing!!!!

FYI-The moon clock says 10am-12noon is the best time to be fishing in the day light hours.
