I like that Bass have achieved an unwritten gamefish status as of recent years. Most of them caught are released :D

Depends on the location and size of the lake. I've seen bucket butts that will keep eveything they catch with their little worms. The older generation and spanish seem to do that also. To each it own but I stand by my opinion, bass should be all catch and release. That would make freshwater fishing WAY better!!

i agree. on the pier i fish off alot for catfish, the spanish and asians seem to keep everything they catch. 3" white perch to bass and carp. Carp are a nasty invasive ruining my susquehanna river, one time night fishing i caught two 5 lb carp. Awesome fight, i gave both to some asians and they were tickled to death with those trash fish.

Every catfish i keep is between 3-5 lbs. anything over 5 deserves to reproduce and make more big catfish, anything under 3 isnt worth cutting up.

Bass IMO arent worth keeping they are a blast to fish for and catch, but i enjoy eating catfish/crappie/yellowperch/and sunfish way better.

Here we have a lot of old country blacks that fish from anywhere and keep everything. Theres a bridge on the way to a creek my brother and fish thats about a hundred feet off the water and these black guys will just be lined up fishing. I cant imagine trying to bring a decent sized fish that high out of the water. Ive seen some of them get busted and have way too many fish most of which are way too small to legally keep.
Granted theres plenty of rednecks doing the same thing just not off the bridges.

the carps from rivers are actually ok due to running water and chinese love carp steamed. I keep bass due to overpopulation in the lake i fish

running water does what? the carp are eating the baitfish out of house and home. The carp are in here by the thousands. As many people keep them, you can still see them jumping all day.

I'm on board with you there, the carp population seems to be very strong at every lake I visit. What even funnier that I dont se many small ones. The ones I see all are well over 5lbs.

If they jump, they would be Silver Carp. They don't eat baitfish. They do, however, eat algae and plantlike phytoplankton, which decreases the oxygen levels ibn the water. plus, the jumping itself is dangerous...you can easily be knocked out cold by a big Silver Carp to the head.

To get a good idea of the jumping ability of Silver Carp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb8OmEr7VqI

common carp have been disapearing in my rivers normally you snag one ever cast last one I caught was with a night crawler back in june. I havnt seen anyone else catch one either. Which is good.
