Thanks never thought they would hit anything but sitting on bottom type bait.

I have done sight fishing for them in the spring with artificials. Use like a soft plastic like a worm or lizard and twitch and let it die and they will slam them real hard. Really fun to catch larger(5-15pound) catfish on light tackle

I had no idea catfish would hit anything but chicken gizzard, non moving bait type things. I have caught catfish here but using earthworms and chicken parts.

I am heading there again this Sat but will take 2 rods as will fish the PB also will try soft plastic worms for the cats..

Thanks

1.5 more days until I'm in Florida and I'm getting all sorts of fish reports now, On Snook and Tarpon in the canals. Fishing buddy went out for a short fishing run today and got 16 LMB. I can hardly wait, first thing I'll be doing once on the ground will be purchasing a new reel as my reels are still in for repairs. I will be loaded for big monster Snook this time around, last time I got broke off with a 30+ inch Snook snapped my spinnerbait.

The fishing has been great and yes big snook in canals. I To big for my taste as prefer 20lb less type fish . Though "moving up" to try big catfish.

The weather has been roughly mid to high 80s during day mid to high 70s at night and lots of big fish in the shallows.

It's frezzing here and you guys are talking about fishing. I can't wait till Feburary gets here!!!

should be getting warm there for a few days 38-40 here today;)

Teq, wher in Florida is that? I am going to Punta Gorda in April, for a combo of Stingray and Shark fishing, reef fishing, backwater canal fishing, and frshwater Gar/Exotic fishing. I can't wait!!

Tequila, the fishing in Sarasota has been pretty good this year. The snook are all over, as well as large snappers and some bluefish. I have also seen a number of tarpon 30-60lbs. caught near Mote Marine Laboratory. Personally, I get most of my food fish from cast-netting tilapia in a State Park.

Punta Gorda isn't that far away, I've driven through it on the way to other spots.
