nope, not worms. i was fishing lmb using live crawdad and it took it. not unusual, cats love crawdad dead or alive

i know what you mean bro. the striper in my first pic was caught off a snagged shad at Lake Havasu. from Nov to March they let you snag shad. you snag 'em and cast the bleeding, twitching shad back out and wait for striper to take it.
i once had a big lmb at Havasu while fishing stiper, must've been around 10 pounds, it surfaced and came right at me, didnt' jump and it had it's mouth wide open. huge, like you can fit your fist in it's mouth, then when it got about 10 feet of me it darted right under me. I was fishing off a dock and line broke. if you fish these guys a lot, the typical size are like 3 pounds to 5 pounds but you know when you got a real lunker on the line.
