I never use the drag. I have all my reels on off,etc as hate that drag. I just reel in non stop once they hit.

I had a line snapped by what was either a 3 ft bowfin or snake head because had no drag but that was freak thing due to fish size and girth.

I have never caught anything bigger than big peacockbass thus never needed drag and since I prefer barbless hooks prefer to just reel them in.

Do you need drag if the line is rated for bigger than the fish?
:ROFL::ROFL:I guess youve never caught a bass over 4 pounds or are you one of thos weirdos that uses 80 pound braid and skim every fish across the surface :screwy:. Fishing is no fun with out letting the fish run and fight ;).

If anyone up north is itching for fishing, I need 12 winter flounder (larger than 6") shipped to Florida for my thesis! :D

Seriously though, I will pay. My offer from MBL is $30 a fish so...if you want to undercut....

Just a few more hours and I'll be FISHING!!!!! :nilly:

Well just finished all that I had do get done before running off to Florida for some R&R and Fishing. Gonna grab a few hours sleep and then head to the Airport.

I miss the northen NY but the snow and cold I have always hated . Its strange to see Christmas lights on palm trees and its 85 degrees at Christmas.

I would think not till late March could you fish again. NJ winters are like the arctic tundra lol .

Since the 08 season I make it a challange to catch my first bass in February. In 08 my first bass was 4.1 caught on a husky jerk bait and this season(first post) was a 3.13 landed on a black and blue jig with matching pork. I have a early season spot that is great soon as the ice has melted!!!

With ur aggressive word play I figured we would bump heads sooner or later. On the topic tho, I don't care what people say about bowfin, they might beable to live with bass and other native fish but they are making it hard for them.

EX-1
I was fishing white city lake in Trenton, NJ in 07. It was spawning season and no lie I watched a school of 6 bass from 2-3lbs protecting one bed. Why cause the bowfin swiming around eating all their eggs are 2-3 times bigger and 200% more agressive.

EX-2
Every lake that bowfin have become abundant. All other species have become harder to catch.

I'm not tring to justify killing any fish that I'm not goin to eat but bowfin, snakeheads, and all other fish like them are not good for the bass population. That's just my OPINION and what I have noticed from my fishing spots over the last four years.

BTW- I'll never kill a bass on purpose or eat one for that matter!!!!
Crappie tho, I'll eat every one I catch!!!!

LOL!!!!!!

PS- " big bruh" is my oldest sibling!!

You do know that bowfin are native to new jersey while Largemouth bass were introduced into most of the state. If we take you idiotic analogy into real life we should kill dumb people so that the smart people can get bigger
