Over the weekend I went fishn w/ some buddies. We fishd pyramid lake for 5.5 hrs in 10-60mph winds. THe crappy weathr is supposed to bring the big fish in....we got skunked sat :(

BUt sunday was much better. We got outta the house regaurdless of the snow that fell over night. We fished a small river and i caught my first 2 fish outta that river. Its a tough one. I managed a nice 18in bow and a 13in bow on a dry fly :)

nice grassie masterB

Heres the 6500 c3's with my new power handles. I used them Sunday and they felt great reeling, but I did get skunked!

Oké whats the meaning of the word skunked?
I always thought that it meant that you guys where ''attacked'' by gasses of a skunk(and I don't mean the famous dutch weed).
However in some phrases that would not make any sense.

Also really nice 17 YP!

On shy carp or grass carp....grass carp you can use bread on light line, keep your profile low, be patient and dont be noisy. Cast to the carp or the area they are in. For regular carp that are shy I also like to use light line, 2lb to 6lb test, no weight and use bread or corn on the bottom. Open the bail and be patient. Carp are very sensitive and can feel the slightest vibrations either from a bump in your pole to you walking on the bank, etc.

I'm going to try my luck on grass carp tonight. They were out yesterday but were busy getting a tan. My biggest out of here is 43lbs, last year I fought one for 3 hours on 6lb test or 4lb test, till my line twisted so much that it broke. He was a big boy, in the past one the same weight line I have pulled in carp in less than 45 mins so this one was a dandy, never did get to see its body but did see his face for a split second.

Thanks for the advice, judging from your pictures you definitely know what your talking about.
I am currently using breaded line with a 44lb test but I will use nylon line with a 6lb test when I go fishing to increase my chances.
I'f these fishingspots turn out to be a waste of my time,I will try your no weight and light line technique on a pond close to my home where they have caught monsters.
The carp there are really shy, I have seen carp take my bait from the bottom and then spit it out because they could feel the tension on the line.
All I catch out there is bream and tench,I never even hooked a carp on that pond.
Do you ever fish for grasscarp with a floating piece of bread at the surface?
I would be thankful I you have any tips or experiences you are willing to share with me.

This is my usual carp tackle:
It consist of a 3gram floater,3x 1gram sinkers and a baited hook.
You use two of the 1 gram sinkers to stabilize the floater.
the last one is lying on the bottom with about 2feet of line separating the sinkers and the baited hook.
This will give the fish some time to eat the bait without becoming suspicious.

Last night I caught that carp on floating bread, with no weight. The sinkers you use, are those splitshots? If so, you ever wonder what the line looks like when the shot in smashed on the line? It doesnt look pretty and really weakens the line in my past experience. :)
