FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These lower temps and freezing night time temps sucks. I have completely stopped thinking about flatheads for the time being. Not a chance I'm gonna sit out at night and freeze. Been working like 60 hour weeks and that sucks too!

Went carpfishing at the spots I have been feeding them this morning.
Turned out to be a big nothing,
Although I don't think the spot is a bad place to go fishing, the weather just really took a turn for the worse after a sunny week.
It was cold, combined with heavy wind and rain.
Went fishing on the spot I saw carps earlier close to the small dam.
My feelings went out to try one of the other places I have been feeding but the heavy wind made it impossible,so I
decided to go close to dam to have some shelter from the wind.
Stayed fishing for 4.5hours,In which I saw several carp, some tench and a large northern pike.
I am going to wait for nice weather before I try again, there is nowhere to hide on the countryside and the strong winds are just ruining my fishing days.

Now THAT is surf fishing.

Yalls beaches are so much different then ours. You can tell you have a much greater difference in tides then we do. Our tides are rarely more then a couple of feet and the high tide mark is at most ten yards from the low tide mark under normal surf conditions due to slight incline of the beach. Our sand is also very soft, fine sugary white sand. Its beautiful but a pain in the but to drag or roll anything through.

What kind of set up do you have? How far do you have to cast? Do you have to read the surf and find any holes or cuts? How fast does it drop off?

On the Gulf Coast almost everyone uses spinning gear. Its rare youll have to cast more then a hundred yards or so and its usually calm enough that you can wade out almost that distance and cast. It drops off very slow out here. At a hundred yards from the beach you MIGHT be in eight ft of water if you get it between two sand bars. Because its mostly a flat featureless plain, its very important down here to find cuts or rips that cause maybe a foot or two difference in depth and that little difference will hold the fish.

I find it so interesting the difference fishing techniques used on the different coasts.

Went to fish at my carp feeding spot, got skunked again.
I believe that the weather might be the reason why I don't catch fish.
It is really windy, and with a temperature of 41F and rain these are bad days to go fishing for most species.
The fishing spot is an almost 7mile bikeride,so I am gonna stop feeding till I read positive weather reports.
Not gonna waste an hour and a half just to feed the fish at those spots as long as the weather stays the same.

Went with Dad to a local pond that is fed by the susquehanna, its more like a cove that anything else but everyone calls it a pond. Anyways, i took dad there so he could finally chase some crappies that he always cries about not catching. First cast he gets this monster 13.5"er. Wow, maybe i was on to something...

not. That was the only crappie we caught. i caught a juvie smallmouth and found some bluegills for the bait tank.

i've decided i just suck at fishing... went catfishing for a few hours today, i missed 7 or 8 hits from small guys and one good fish. i was half paying attention, rod propped on a stick i put in the mud and look over - the butt of the rod was off the ground and the only thing keeping my 6500 out of the water was the fact that it had gotten jammed between the branches.. line was still tight, i set the hook and saw the fish roll ( only like 2ft of water ) and somehow i pulled the hook out of his mouth... line stayed tight the whole time, he should have fully had it, and it just pulled. judging by what i saw approx a 6-7lb fish which is good for me around here.... did find out why the bigger "channels" i have been catching have had such big heads, they're white catfish not channels haha

hmm could be either then, i think it's been a combination of the two, they put up the info about what fish are in the lake and it says there are channels and whites mixed in. regardless i need to go back soon because today was just horrible lol
