Hey guys, I have been reading a lot about substrate colour to make flowerhorn bring their best colour but there are a lot of different opinions.
I want to get a tile bottom for my flowerhorn tank and the background is blue (picture of the type of blue below)

Which tile colour would be better for flowerhorn to colour up?

Yup, agree with Kolton13 Kolton13 . also just a pointer, I would silicon the tiles down completely around all sides; I did tile bottom before without doing this, and poop built up under the tiles like crazy.

^ Personally haven't tried tile, seems like a cool project for another time.

Yes i'm planning to silicone them, but some people say the dark substrate will make the flowerhorn ugly and almost completely black because it will try to blend in.

The lighter the bottom the lighter he'll get, The darker the darker he will be.

when you say the darker he will be, do you mean that he will be darker in colour like deeper reds or will he get black?

I just recently got a all white flowerhorn, he's in a black sand tank and now e has a little black on the top of him and orange. Just natural coloring. I have another who was in that tank all dark blue but now with white substrate he's a lot more light blue

Ok so that's what I thought. The blue background will make it even so it's not too dark

Depends on the fish really, but he probably won't get all black per se, but will show darker colors. It won't make them more red or anything, just darker or lighter. A lighter fish might show light colors better though.
