This is HOB filter as per image, Hang on back, so u will have the extension of the pipe to dip down in the tank which sucks the water and output os the water should flow from the upper part of the filter. I guess its the same as the aqua-tech filter 10-20, see the model aqua-tech in walmart.com or amazon.com and u will get idea. Feel free to PM me for further details
If its confirmed that HOB filter, so all u need to do is fill the water in the same compartment from where the water will be out, because it will not suck the water until u fill the water in filter
Absolutely, I was surprised too to see that motor( is that motor??) and foam filter submerged in water and sucks from there! Sobo is the general brand found in India for aquarium filters, also u can use the good filteration, some bio media and some carbon filters from other brands which are compatible to this filter, and hence u can use sobo for long run as far as u use the good bio media and carbon filter from other brands! The mechanical and electrical parts are generally have the same functions!
Another thing its difficult to find Sobo cartridges in our country,even online its difficult these guys sell only products and spare parts I have never seen anywhere,even I got a led light recently.Its better to search for good company cartridges only amazon lndia have large aqua accessories other sites its poor
amazon would be best for aqua products!! also keep some bio balls may be in filter or in the mesh bag inside the aquairium to balance bio loads...
