i just got 12 from cichluvr as well. i feed them bloodworms krill and cichlid pelets. my question is will they pair off from the same group ie brother and sister, and will this effect thier spawn?
A long overdue update:
The little ones from cichluvr are all gone. I gave a few to a friend and the rest are dead. They looked good for a while but something went terribly wrong with their tank and....
Like flies they went. Bummer.
The pair is doing great however. I'm hoping for a spawn soon but won't hold my breath. Here's a vid.
Now, the $1,000,000 question: Why did the little guys fail to thrive and do I start over with the Rio Tumbes? I really want another pair at some point.
Great looking pair ED!!! did you just get them? she looks ready to spawn for you. Sorry to hear about about your tumbes, I have two spawns right now and a third one waiting to hatch from two different bloodlines. If you want a great strain ill be happy to help you out prolly wont be till this spring when its warm enought to ship 3 day but definitely worth the wait
@Jason, this is the same pair that i got from Ira in September. You bred these fish.
They've grown tremendously since i got them. Male is a showstopper at 7.5", female is 5.5"
They are nice, Ed. It looks like little Festae will be coming your way soon. Sorry about the Tumbes lost. I have only lost Festae to aggression, nothing else. I'm not sure why they would have dropped off so fast. But you should try again if you want a pair of Tumbes to add to your collection. We all know that Jason's Festae aren't that shabby either . He's got Festae fry coming out of his ears! He can hook you up later too.
They spawned!!! Or rather, they're spawning.
Last week I took everything else out of the 220 except for a school of silver dollars. They spent days nesting and then this morning...
I'm bouncing off the walls. I want to see this 220 swarming with mini festae so bad i can taste it. I'll get some photos and vids up soon so you guys can see the parents to be in action. Wish me luck.
