Fluval Evo Saltwater Startup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Unfortunately the GSP never opened. I do have a quick question. Looking at this Zoa the puffy bulge down on the bottom right is new. Could this be new growth or just hopeful optimism? I have no idea how these things look when they spread.

GSP still in tank? Unless disease takes effect, I find it best to leave the coral until it melts. If it did die, no worries. Not every coral makes it and gsp is very cheap.
Yes that zoa is budding, these guys grow fast.

Thanks for the response. That is quite amazing. I wasn’t expecting growth yet. But honestly I think the maze has some growth as well.
Yes the GSP is still in the tank. It still has purple coloration but has been in the tank since the 16th with no signs of opening.

Give it time. Softies like to be babies about transfer. I had a leather close for over a month because I moved it an inch. I tried a million spaces, and it is only open roughly where I originally put it. And there it has stayed. 11 days isn’t terrible. In a few months you’ll be wishing it stayed closed lol (in all seriousness I’ve found it to be slow growing as long as kept away from rocks).

Lol. I moved it after the first conversation about it. I now have it on a frag rock separated from the main structure.

Any idea what phosphate is? That can cause green star to close up.

Sorry I do not have a test for that. I will have to pick it up. The GSP never opened up for me from delivery. Today I came in and a large flap of the purple had detached from the frag and is just flopping in the current. I am assuming that the coral is not viable. I will leave it in the tank for now but have no hope.

Green star polyps don’t shed to my knowledge, so it sounds like it may be dying. It may still make a recovery because Xenia corals are known to come back after it goes south.

The darker purple on the left side is barely attached to anything. The rest seems to be melting.
