I've learned, its a bad idea to plug in a fluval fx5, and forget to attach any of the lid fasteners down. ;)

more advice on the fx5 dont buy one in the 1st place :D

whats wrong with an FX5? Saying it sucks without an explanation is useless.

I did something like that with my 404...one of the clamps wasn't shut correctly and the lid popped off, water flooded out.

I am in the market for a canister filter and have spoke with many different pet stores, and researched the Fx5 and have mostly got positive feedback. From what I have heard if you are looking for bang for your buck, then the Fx5 is not a bad choice.

It is a pain to clean out, and I often gets alot of water on the floor some how some way, no matter how careful I am, but all and all I love its preformance and highly recommend to others. It is one powerful beast!

I put mine in the tub or sink. I never clean any canister without putting it either in the tub or sink for this reason.

Don't get T1 going. HE has nothing good to say about tHEfx5 and makes up a bunch of BS just to make it sound like crap. Him an I have already had many heated conversations about it.

He tries to compaire the quality of the Fx5 to the 2080 or any other Eheim. Which is pretty stupid because we all know Eheims are better quality. They have their down sides too though.
