Food For An Oscar

they were but 2 inches long. I had a friend tell me, as what has been stated her on this thread, if you mix the diet, you'll have a rapid growth of your fish. Periodic water changes help too.

I mixed up the diet of my 2 O's, and within 14 months they were in separate tanks and 16 inches long
Pics or it didn't happen. With rulers.

I make my own fish food for this reason. Store bought food is costly and not as good most of the time. I make it and freeze it in qube form. My fish love it and color up more when they get it.

I fed mine Hikari Gold Cichlid staple...it comes in a green bag and has an oscar on the package, and Tetra Cichlid sticks. It was so cool to watch him eat a pellet and then hear the crunching sound outside the tank as he mashed it up in his mouth!

Also I may get flamed for this, but live food is not really necessary for an O. Commercially prepared frozen foods such as silversides, beefheart, krill, pretty much anything with a high protein levels will provide the same benefits without the risk of disease. Especially when paired with a high quality staple pellet.

even ghost shrimp
i got a big order or 50 coming in next week and im starting to breed my own to keep diseases out
i got 4 pike cichlids to that eat em soo working on self suffiecent feeding
