My butti needs something live now and then (Its still young and darts for cover if anything in the room moves) its a real thick 5" baby but its pretty calm for now, still big into hiding and the live prey brings him out.

dude why do you have to be such a **** this place is to help and all you do is put down everything other people say why dont you go some where were being a total jerk is helpful all i said was i saw it happen and you have to run your mouth and i see another person said he seen it so we must all be liars and you are always right i hope the make you a mod. soon so we can all know as much as you cause i dont think are fish will live without you helping

You must have been seeing things, because it is absolutely impossible, unless that particular mealworm was impervious to the teeth and acids and enzymes of the fish, which is even more impossible.

My conclusion would be that the fish was already dead and the mealworm fell into the tank from a shelf! We are here to help other poeple out arn't we so lets get back to the issue at hand.

I dunno, seems a little far fetched for me to believe. I've had reptiles for a few years now, and if u cut a mealworm in half it'll die. No need to escape the stomach acids.

If you think you've seen a worm eat its way out the fish or anything else, well people have seen UFOs and Elvis, Tupac... so feel free to see what you see.

One tip I can suggest, the mealies will molt and shed their skin. At that time they are pretty much white, REALLY soft. This is the best time to feed that particular mealie to a fish or reptile.

I don't put down everything other people say. I only put down yours, because it is a fact that it is impossible for a mealworm to accomplish what you described. Modest_Man also said it's a myth. Stop trying to portray me as as some idiotic trouble-maker, because you're the one who is wrong here. You are the stubborn one; you are the one who thinks he's always right.

Does anyone else here think that a mealworm can survive getting chewed up by a fish and then its lethal stomach acids?

so me and other people who have seen it are wrong fine but it has happened so think what you want once again showing how you cant be wrong !!!!!!!
p.s. i know im not always wright thats why im here to learn but i can't say that i cant happen if ive seen it that would be me lieing

Look - for a mealworm to bite a hole in a fish's stomach, it has to do the following things (in order):

1) Survive the teeth of the fish
2) Avoid getting squashed by the muscles of the fish's gullet
3) Be immune to the hydrochloric acid and other enzymes in the fish's stomach
4) Have mandibles strong enough to tear the strong muscular stomach tissue

Now, sit down and think. Is a mealworm capable of doing these?

im not arguing how impossible it seems and i never thought it could happen either but when a guy showed up at my work with his oscar who was alone in his tank had his stomach chewed from the inside out and all he feed it was mealworms then i changed my out look on it and will i ever see it again most likely not

It is a fact that a mealworm cannot survive being in a fish's stomach. If you don't believe it, too bad for you. Ask anyone who has some basic knowledge in chemistry and you'll get the same answer: the hydrochloric acid would burn and kill the mealworm. You can continue being stubborn. I no longer have anything to say to you because you just don't believe facts.
