The net result of salmon farming is a reduction in protein and will in no way end world hunger. It's the equivalent of growing corn to feed to cows to feed to jaguars to raise for food. Check out these links, they explain it better than I can:

Good read. My question though is since fish are growing larger in less time wouldn't it reduce the amount of feed that was needed? it basically helped eleviate the problem in your "corn to cow to jags to human consumption" scenario.
