40 gallon tank or any of these fish is too small most of these fish will grow larger than the tank itself. so its not a matter of which ones he could keep in this tank its a matter of either get rid of the fish or build a larger tank but i don't believe either will happen in this situation

I am glad you will do this, it is the right thing. There are plenty of cool fish, even predators, which would love a 2.5m tank. Your friend just happens to have bough all the giant ones which won't do well. If you want suggestions for fish for the 2.5m and the smaller tanks i'm sure people here would be happy to help give ideas.

Yes. I think i will just tell him to keep like oscar, red devil, below 1 m kinda catfish or datz like the one he is having right now

understand that you don't want to rain on your friend's parade, but he needs to understand what he is doing is animal cruelty. Tell him to sell his fish. He is not going to be able to get a tank large enough to keep all the fish he already has unless he builds a public aquarium style monster tank.

I think if he keeps them in there too much longer together, his problems will take care of themselves. It's not going to work the way he hopes unfortunately. Great fish though.
