Future wet pet :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your RQ was SUPERB!!!!

I my experience, ( and only that ) Texas and Texas crosses do not compare to FH's and Amphis in the "wet pet" department.

There may be guys with differing opinions, however

i'd have to agree with you so far on the wet pet topic. The RQ was way more responsive at this size, but time will tell.

Thanks,
Steve

I guess I was wrong about the small FH I had bought as a juvie RT.

This is the last picture I had of it when I gave it to him. He was getting beat up from my Veija/texas male but was 5+".
any idea of sex from this picture? I think male but it had alot of black in dorsal when young.

Well I went over to visit him over thanksgiving and the dang fish is now peeling/fading. It's turned mostly black but starting to turn orange around the mouth and ends of fins. More than you can see in this pic. Never seen a fish go through this transformation. When he was side lit it showed a metalic pattern from the reflected light, but when the tank light came on those are just dark areas with no real pattern. I doubt he will be anything special but I'm amazed it took almost a year to start this process.

Of course I did not bring my camera so I don't have a current photo. When these fish go through this stage do they become more seclusive?
The fish hides most of the time under a rockledge. My friend is changing out the tank for a 90 gal and then I should be able to get a good picture from him.

damn...love the colors on him....I wish my Escondido x Guttulatus would show more color like him.

Which one are you talking about?

The so called RT or the veija/texas?

Anybody have any input for me?
I searched through the site and found some answers on fading/peeling. I guess it can take quite some time to finish.

Here are the two brothers testing who has the bigger mouth :)

Those things are awesome. Wouldn't mind seeing some more shots of the fader and yea it can take a while before they will show signs of fading.

Thanks for the replies

I won't be able to get back there for a month, so I asked him today to see if he can get me a picture of the fader.
It will be interesting to see what it becomes.
