FX5 100% the best external !!!

i also have a fluadised sand filter water condition perfect water flow still strong on fx5 5 months and not opened great filter

As much as you have praised the FX5 and emphasized your big fish and excellent water conditions, the use of additional filtration would have been crucial information early on.

Basically, you are adding serious biofiltration by using fluidized sand ... I have long pointed out that the FX5 has limited biocapacity, and I dare to say that the FX5 alone could probably not support the tremendous bioload your tank is currently exposed to. You must feel the same, since you run both systems.

the sand filter is a new addition the fx 5 could cope on its own its built for a much bigger tank than mine so it would cope
 
Do you still do water changes through the pour spout even though you dont open the canister?

If so does doing water changes through the spout possible help clean out your canister in the process?
 
i think the new fluval is nice...never used anyof them tho,.. went w/d and never looked back

no water changes straight from tank i have not touched the filter since 1st jan
