I'm getting a 125g (housing 2 messy oscars). I really like fx5, but don't know if the flow rate's too large for the tank. Should I get 2 405s instead? :feedback:

got the same thing with my lfs.. they bumped up the price $30 more. but these things.. price of these stuff goes down not up. and besides... online is cheaper.. even if you add shipping. :) just a word of advise.. if you really really need it and it will kill your fish get it from the lfs. but if it can wait... i would go online ( a lot cheaper!). not that i don't care about the lfs... they do have more expense on electric, man power, water and all sorts of government tax and BS stuffs. that's why sometime they just need to jack the price up.:)

I am interested in starting again. The bug never quite goes away. :) And I am looking for a good, simple filtration setup. I have used about every type of system and I have always found canisters to be very messy especially when pulling out the baskets.

I just have a couple of questions about the FX5:

How exactly does the FX5 make water changes easier?

How often do you open her up? Is it at every water change, which I am assuming is weekly? How often do you replace media? In short, what is your process?

BTW, I am looking to setup a Tanganyika community cichlid tank, possibly around 120gallons and I really like the turnover rate on this filter for a tank of this size.
