Same here!!I love mine and have NOT had one issue from the day it arrived. Maybe your lid is not tightened enough?

I really believe that there were defective batches of these filters. Some people have no probs and others cant seem to get it to work right.

Is the rubber part between the pipe and the intake strainer fully submerged?
Also the pipe and the output nozzle

either that^
or the O rings where to connectors go on the filter.. the valves.. or whatever are gone.

They way the Fx5 canister and pump is setup, if air enters the canister from the intake side or the lid, air will build up in the canister and not get pumped out. So this can't cause bubbles. The only other way you can get microbubbles, is my guess, air is getting in at the pump seal?

Have you tried swapping the valves around? They have seals too.

What do you mean by swapping valves? put the inflow gasket to the outflow hole?

Im just experimenting at this point, i pulled out the long tube that is attached to the canister lid. This is the tube that is on the inflow part of the filter, not the small tube that is connected to the outflow.

The odd part is i bought two from the same vendor, one works fine and the other just blows microbubbles.

Im starting to think its just a bad propeller/part

Where is the filter positioned in relation to the aquarium? Below it? Beside it? Above it? If below, how far below? Is the top of the filter at least 8"/20cm below the bottom of the aquarium?

i have had mine for just over a month. mine a week ago has started to do the same thing.. still love the filter. can this cause something bad to happen? i have rays so dont mind the micro bubbles. should i try an fix this. i figured it wasnt normal but is it something bad, do i need to also figure out whats wrong?
i have noticed mine comes an goes. sometimes its alot, but after it does its 24 hour turn off an restart it seems to go back down. right now i see no micro bubbles. but it does do it quite often

Not the gasket. There should have been a third valve with your purchase, swap the discharge valve out with that one or swap the suction side and discharge side valves to see if the bubbles go away.

This might cause startup/purging issues.

Replacing the impeller probably won't fix the issue. Its getting air from some where.

remove the pump and the gasket, clean the gasket and put it back on see if that works.
