is it a needlenose gar?
Yes it is Lepisosteus osseus also called Longnosed gar, billy gar, spottal gar, Florida spotted longnosed gator gar Etc....

It is actually not all that regular for a Juvi Longnosed to hug the bottom like this but then after looking at the pics I can see why it would...You have too many fish in that tank with very little cover for any of them. This will make the gar nervous especially if it is new to the tank. Put a mat of floating plants in there for the fish and he will go right for it.

ok Thank You for informing of that! :D i'll get the floating plants right now. and

ok now i added fake plants but i just took each pieces apart and spreaded them all over the top of the water and i added one big piece of floating driftwood that would never sink that gives alot of covers for them

Nice job...

I just got a gar (12") today (shipped to me) and he is already right at home in my tank, cruising near the middle to top. Just thought I would let you know. I have one fake giant fancy bamboo plant on top for cover. Rest of the tank is bare minus sand and painted black background. He is also with my 3 ocellaris 8-10". Your gar looks good!

thanks :D i just added many fake plants and let them float and added one big floating driftwood that would never sink

when mine were small they never used to lay on the bottom as they grew big they started to find a nice cozy place at the bottom to rest
and some times all 5 of them are at the same place like a poly pile :D
but as soon as i come close to the tank they are out in the front begging for food, and sometimes take swipes at my fingers too during tank maintenance if only the finger tips are in the water

oh. lol well after i added fake plants and made them all float and added one big piece of floating driftwood that never sinks...they stayed up their and see them swimming around when they think im not their anymore LOL XD
