I've had a very small GATF for a few days now and since yesterday what looked like a slight wound/abrasion has become raised and white. Could this just be him shedding the damaged scales or do I need to worry?

Amo-0ppm
NitRite-0ppm
NitRates-30ppm a little higher than normal but not sure it would cause a problem?

I plan on doing a large water change tomorrow and adding aquarium salt please let me know if you think I should do anything else.

Here is a pic, it's not the best but he's tiny and very fast lol ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1393284072.062165.jpg

Is it fuzzy white? Have you tested your water and any chance of a small vid to see better

No it just looks like the scales sticking out, kinda like dropsy but only on the area that looked damaged when I got him and no bloating. He seems healthy and is eating well.

Yea I posted the water perimeters in the 1st post from yesterday and today I done a 75% WC and added aquarium salt so haven't tested yet because I was told it's sometimes inaccurate rite after a water change but I am guessing they would be

Amo 0

Rites 0

Rates -10

But I will test later on tonight.

I will try to add a video but not sure if I can from my phone and my laptop died...

Sounds like a bacterial infection of the scales. did you raise the temperature? I would start treating with melafix

Just had another look n it might be a little fluffy, it's really hard to tell because he's so small! Would it be worth adding a med or will the salt and extra WC be enough to clear it up?

I would stay with salt 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water and clean water. Do daily water changes and replace salt removed by % of water changes. Try this for a few days but if you see it take a turn for the worse or there is any change post so we can advise further please post Ph so the correct med can be recomended if needed.

Edit: I am not a fan of any oil based meds such as mela/pimafix.

You can try just water changes and salt baths. it sounds like the little guy has a lot going on poor thing. I've had alot of luck with maracyn plus and salt baths I start treating as soon as I see something is wrong. The salt baths seem to work wonders

Why don't you like melafix or pimafix? Is something up with them?
