GATF loosing scales?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think he's going to die :( more scales have gone the same, his suns has gone red and he is just floating around on his side. I'm gutted, I don't know what to do next, I'm guessing internal infection but I think it's to late. He was fine before I went to bed, it happened so fast

I'm so sorry :( did you use any meds at all or just salt and water changes?

:( anytime I see a sick fish I raise the temperature add salt and start treatment with meds. The store i used to work at got sick fish from the vendor weekly. I found its better to treat then wait

I will keep that in mind if I am ever in the same situation again. I just don't think I'm supposed to have an ATF, they are the only fish I haven't had any luck with.

Don't feel so bad bro maybe the fish was sick already when you got it and now just started to act up. Another thing is that you tried your best saving it and thats what mattered. Other owners would probably say oh he or she sick time to take out the trash....so good luck next time man.

Sorry to hear you lost it. As others said you tried.

when dealing with a sick fish it's important to know what it is your dealing with before starting to medacate. It is also important to be aware of your water chemistry and how different medications react. Additionally the species being treated also needs to be takin into accout as some are much more sensative to some meds than others. There are also some illnesses such as Columnaris that is much more virulent at higher temeratures, so even raising the temperture has to be done with caution. The best first line of defence is clean water and a clean environment. Salt again depending on species is also a good start until a definate diagnosis can be made. Just some info to digest going foward. If you need any help in the future we are here for you. GL and again sorry you lost it.
