Getting tired of this trend on MFK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd have to agree, it's discouraging. I try to always include something meaningful in my post, or offer some alternative to the problem.

people like yourself help make the site a better place to learn

cause that what we are all here for right it not all about bragging about fish and being better than the next person:headbang2

I feel you, and only thing I hate more than that is the... "Everyone else does it, so its ok" mentality. Pretty sad in my opinion.

Def agree with you, made a thread about this a little while ago about it. I just don't understand it. Your on a forum dedicated to the sharing of knowledge so why flame when someone asks for such knowledge. If it annoy's you to be helpful than just avoid the threads asking for help. It's not like your forced to read the threads and out of frustration respond. The flamer is just looking for a way to make themselves feel powerful and inteligent. They're probably severly lacking someway in their personal lives, and try to feel self worth by attacking people in a forum where there is little chance of direct retaliation. It's actually sad that they feel they have to do it and just lower's this wonderful forum. It's unfortunate that we have to tolerate such things, but that's life so all we can do is grin and bear it.

i hate it too.
this is usually said from people who actually do not know how to advise the person...these are threads they should stay away from until they gain some knowledge. So my advice is... don't let these few bother you... just report it and ignore it.

Lesson learned. It sounds like an accident too. Maybe for now on tell him not to touch the tanks. Sounds like your dad puts money into your tanks, plus he lets you live there probably giving you a break on rent/bills. Try to be more grateful.

I wouldn't say thats the most helpful advice there though.

My answer still applies. There are a few ways to approach the problem. Either go out of your way to answer as many questions as possible (which leads to burnout or a jaded attitude) or answer none at all, and that doesn't help the hobby. it's important for people to realize that these sites help the hobby and all of the new people that come along and keep the hobby going. Slamming the door in their face is only hurting yourself adn the hobby you enjoy.
