what is the average price of these beasts, my lfs has a 6 inch red tailed for $180, i think that's a little much, i have a 220g that i was going to put it in, it would have a marble cat and a pleco for tank mates:screwy:

Not 100% sure as I'm in the uk but $180 is way too much for a 6 inch red tail.

i think so myself, i've seen some in florida for $60

That would be about my guess. Fish(and everything else for that matter) over here cost more. $60 or £30 to me would be about right for a six inch red tail. Our elephant ear was £80 or $160 over there at a similar size when we got him but they are a lot rarer to find on sale.

If you've got the tank space get one by all means but you need to remember that some can be aggresive especially when young and they're is no real way to tell unless you have seen them with other tank mates...

I paid $240 for all 4 of mine. I wish though that I had mine in Florida, I'd just throw them in my pool now. Heck I'll sell you mine for $180 each.

so if i got and grew one into adulthood i would probably be able to keep them together?
how big/old would he have to be?
also, do either of them (the GG more so than the discus) get along with oscars?
the GG would probably grow faster than the oscar right? especially if i don't try to speed his growth with over feeding live food
BIG...I have a 23 inch gg in a 100gal i've put other fish in with him as an experiment.some fish he doesn't bother and some he attacts as soon as i put ie my red devil.it's been my experience that it just depends on your fish.as far as them getting less aggresive when they get older that also depends on your fish.they all have their own personality much like a dog.he has even let some feeders live to a ripe old age without even a second thought.good luck

Still no giant gourami but...

Lou,

Anyone would think that you'd just got a new camera:naughty:

I'm sure you'll find one eventually...
