Not sure if its a Zebra Danio tho.... Looks like a minnow to me..

This is a "Medaka" (Oryzias latipes) The Japanese Killifish or Ricefish. It has a very short breeding cycle and consequently has been used for genetic research for a long while as well as having been sent into space (tests) as some traits/problems take generations to develop. There are quite a few colour varieties of them. Google the scientific name and you will see some amazing embryo development photos. In western countries, scientists use zebra danios instead as they also have a short reproductive cycle. Some labs can turn hatching eggs into fry producing adults in less than 50 days!!

The head shape is quite different to the White Cloud Mountain Minnow.

As I know, CA is the only state claimed the Glo danios illegal. I haven't been informed its illegal in WC. Actually, it's easy to breed them. I got some pink danios, and successfully bred them. Transgene is not harmful to others. The gene mutations are actually happened in nature all the time.

glowlight tetras are danios mixed with jelly fish DNA

in PA, they're like 5.99 a piece. they don't glow persay, rather they're neon colors and look amazing under black lights, they're supposed to have some kind of splicing with jellyfish for the color, but if they're from somewhere dumb like walmart, it's likely that they're just dyed, like the rest of their fish.

I'm not entirely sure why people have a problem with the genetically altered fish. They all have the potential to live long and reproduce, and no pain or suffering is due them. If you insert a genetic sequence that produces yellow pigment from one organism to another, all the genetic sequence will do is produce yellow pigment. It won't go Godzilla on you, won't turn radioactive, won't give your tomatoes salmonella. Give them bloodworms and love them.

IT'S FAR BETTER THAN DYED FISH! whee ain't everything

people have a problem with genetically altered fish cause its playing god.

I had pink ones and they didn't glow in the dark, so I don't think it would work that way.

I think theyre illegalin my state, No were to buy them, not that I wouldnt want to. Although, One thing I want to do is make a feeding video with them, turn out the lights in the tank and room, drop them in and watch them disapear, but I dont know since they are genetically altered if they would do harm to the fish that ate them.
