if you were to breed a glowing with a regular do the offspring glow? is the glowing gene dominant or recessive?
it would be pretty cool if it wound up codominant and checkered-like lol(even though it would never happen).

ya itd be awsome to have little glowing eggs lol

they're not put through a painful process or anything that shortens their life. i think the only thing that technically is illegal is to breed and then sell them, due to a patent. they're awesome little fish

I gotta go with Bethany on this one.

They aren't hurt nor harmed, not like other color enhanced fish - I'll be the first one to hate my boss if he got injected or dyed fish in.

They are something interesting and pretty we've been able to develop through science, why should we stunt ourselves from creation?

However to answer the posters question, yes they should be able to breed. We had a gentlemen come in who'd had his glo fish breed very readily in his 10gal tank.

He had a bunch of java moss in there. We unfortunately couldn't buy his fry because of the patent however.

GLO danios are puzzling to me... my LFS got a bunch of them in, much to the absolute horror of all its employees. Pretty much all of the batch died off, but not before some of them were sold. When a customer brought in their dead pink GLOs for a refund, the water in the fish bag was also tinged very pink.

That REALLY makes me suspect that these particular fish were dyed.. perhaps they were true GLOs that had been 'amped up' with dye, or perhaps they weren't GLOs at all. Either way, I'm pretty sure having a jellyfish gene doesn't cause your color to leak out of you when you die..!

the fish are not dyed. and dye from fish doesn't color the water [often the color is injected], but that is odd that the water was colored. i know some stupid stores keep their fish in water with some dye, but there is no way that the color that the glo-fish exhibit would be so vibrant from colored water lol.

they're a bit pickier than regular danios, not quite as hardy [my zebras survive everything, but I've lost a few glo-fish]

i pay about 5.99-6.99 for mine, I love them , and the contrast between them and the zebras is awesome.

i wish my green ones would breed =[
