Good luck to all

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ThiS is an online forum not a church group, we come here for help, to vent, to learn. Words are words and if its to offensive to you then theres plenty of other fish forums.

Yes if you say that you have a 18" arowana 12" fl gar and a huge CK in a 60gal then yes youll be slammed beyond belief, this is a monster fish forum and a monster fish includes a MONSTER TANK!!

Not saying this relates to anyone here but words are words people, sometimes its not even meant to offend. Especially with younger people like me, we could say "suck" and u could flip out!

Just be open minded!

Get your loved one some damn flowers and a card, get the fudge outta here!!;)

Happy vday

every bunch of rose's has the odd prick.if you get jabbed just smile and carry on :),i have found more good advice than bad by far on here, and tbh people here seem less arguementative than alot of other sites but you allways get the expert who's never wrong no matter where you go :)

Hello; I am going to assume that the moderators have decided on a set of standards about conduct on this forum. This assumption is based on some posts from moderators I have read in various threads. If I recall correctly they have stated that this forum is meant to be family friendly in that members may be of all ages not just grizzled adults with a thick skin. I hope that the moderators have decided on a level of civility.
In any event there are ways to give advice to those who, in your opinion, are doing something wrong. The fact that an opportunity to "flame" / "slam" someone presents it self does not mean that a member has to do so. To type a comment takes time and thought. It is not a quick off the cuff utterence in a one on one conversation.
I have read enough threads on the forum to know there is a wide range of opinions on a number of issues. I do not, and suspect few others, expect that we will all come to an agreement on these issues. However, we can can be civil in the language used when expressing ourselves. Present you thinking on a topic and allow me and others to make up our own mind about it. If I disagree, I can explain my point of view. We may never agree with each other.
There are other fish forums as you say, but so far I have encountered similar rude and insulting posts on them from time to time. Perhaps at some point a moderator will join in on this thread and explain the standards they have for this forum. I recall a post of a moderator about the folks using the forum that do not keep big fish and/or big tanks. That modereator said that we are welcome and that this forum was open to all fish hobbiest. I seem to recall thast monster was described as to ecompass the size of the hobby and the umbrella of the forum and not just big fish and tanks. At any rate I hope they do not intend to allow a verbal free for all. I also hope that a thick skin is not necessary to be an active member of this forum.
If a member's post indicates an overstocked tank , the reasons why can be explained without being rude or insulting. Slaming such a member may well drive them away before they can gain the information needed to make the conditions in their tanks better.

i also encourage you to stay...i started off similar in your situation but overtime came to notice that there are ppl on here who are willing to show and teach people like us to enjoy and spread the love of being a MFK...this doesnt seem like much but i sincerely and i mean it stay with MFK and take a break...

They grow on you... But yes lately there seems to be alot more torlling and just people being "jerky" towards one another. and sometimes people will offend without meaning to do so ( I know I've done it with my pretty straight to the point comments at times) This Forum reminds me alot of a few boarding Stables I've had my horses at... when so many people with the same "Hobby" and "passion" under one roof oppininos and differences will result in the occasional conflict. But in the end you can usually find a few friends and a wealth of knowledge you'de lack on your own. I've learned to just ignore the jerks, and try and take suggestions/comments/critiques with a grain of salt. I think in the end you'll be happy, as I know the past 3yrs on this forum I've learned more about this hobby then I did the prior 10yrs on my own, that includes all the time I've worked in a LFS.

BTW.. MFKing isn't about the size of the tank..but the size of the heart. This forum isn't about who has the biggest tank or the most "badd @ss" fish... It's about haveing the passion and heart in keeping them. It doesn't matter how cool your fish are if you can't keep it alive, or how big your tank is if you can't filter it properly . Do alot of people here have massive tanks? Well duh..who else is crazy enough to spend thousands of dollars on some glass and water?... But not all do.

Pretty deep there man. Im assuming were thinking the same relative thoughts. You can have a 1lt tank with a lily in it, great, i realize this forum is diverse but the truth is the only thing that helps here.

You may take something offensive that i consider fine or vice versa. So if you post its your duty to find the practicalities of the advice given! Im just here to help and learn, like you!

Cheers to community!!

I think you should stick it out and stay. There are a ton of knowledgeable MFKers here and some that are just obnoxious. Just take the bad with the good. Try to remember that at the end of the day this is just an online forum to use as a tool to better your fish keeping skills. Hope to see you around.
