Good luck to all

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you should stick it out and stay. There are a ton of knowledgeable MFKers here and some that are just obnoxious. Just take the bad with the good. Try to remember that at the end of the day this is just an online forum to use as a tool to better your fish keeping skills. Hope to see you around.

I can go along with that. As you can see I've been a member here for a while, but I don't post, I research. I too see obnoxious people on here some and I shake my head and hit the back button. I've kept kish for 30 years, and my concern is I wonder about the young person coming on this site seeking knowledge about keeping fish and then-unfortunately- being turned off or driven away from the hobby because of morons. If you can get through some of the crap you will find a fountain of information from very knowledgeable fish keepers. YOu will start to recognize the names of the good ones...and the bad ones.

ThiS is an online forum not a church group, we come here for help, to vent, to learn. Words are words and if its to offensive to you then theres plenty of other fish forums.

Yes if you say that you have a 18" arowana 12" fl gar and a huge CK in a 60gal then yes youll be slammed beyond belief, this is a monster fish forum and a monster fish includes a MONSTER TANK!!

Not saying this relates to anyone here but words are words people, sometimes its not even meant to offend. Especially with younger people like me, we could say "suck" and u could flip out!

Just be open minded!

Get your loved one some damn flowers and a card, get the fudge outta here!!;)

Happy vday

It doesn't matter what fish and what size tank. We are here to educate, inform and share.

"Listen more and talk less" is always wise. But please try contribute your knowledge when you could to make the forum a little more exciting and better over all, especially with your 30 years of experience.

I would love to actually, but to be honest with you, I too have trouble with the rude, careless statements that are made on here sometimes. I find it hard not to lash out at the posters who find the need to lash out if they disagree or poke fun at those who honestly don't know answer. I have contributed in the past, on here and other places, but I have found it much easier just to "turn the other cheek" on the internet then try to combat verbally someone being rude.

I disagree with what some post on here, or have found my experience to be different, but I just don't feel like taking the chance of posting a response or observation and then having someone insist I'm wrong. I'm old enough now to know what's best for me personally, and that's just observe and enjoy what other hobbyist are into. I check this site several times a day, to see pics, read interesting titles etc. But if I was a boy again and came on this site (if the internet was aroudn then LOL) and posted a beginner or "newbie" question and get some of the responses I see some people make, or not even answer the question and tell the poster why his/her question isn't even realevant, I probably wouldn't have stayed in the hobby. I mean it's one thing to think of something mean or negative to say, but to take the time to type it and hit the "post reply" is another.

I just hope there isn't a lot of younger kids that have tried to post on here and got ran off with the albeit few poster that make insensitive comments. The hobbyist is the life blood of this whole thing. We buy, breed, raise and carry on the hobby...the more young people we can get in this wonderful world of fishkeeping the better off we all are. At least I thik.

Sorry to ramble on, but when I saw when I read this posters message, I can understand where he/she was coming from. I just hope they come back.

Try reading my last post, that was MY WHOLE POINT!

This is another COMMON occurance, someone clicking this thread reading the OP and scrolling all the way to the end of the thread and commenting, read the whole thing first so we can help people more efficiently and maybe save a poor fishes life!

I have had fish for 40 of my 50 years and don't project to know it all. I do know a lot though from experiance, and will help anyone that asks. After awhile you know who is here to help and who is here to just play games. Go to the lounge and you can see the little cliches that develoup. LOL Just disagree with some in the lounge and see all the but buddies jump in to the rescue.LOL Its all good anyways stick it out the help is here!

Excedrin102,
I hope you stick around.
Web forums all have the same issues:
Since everything is typed, it's hard to know the 'tone' of communication, and for people to keep that in mind while writing or reading.
As for myself, everything is said with humor, and maybe teasing for chuckles. but who can tell? I often don't take time to post smilies & such.
A lot of people come through here. Some probably learned to know [and deliberately ignore] each other a long time ago. That's the only way a forum keeps going.
It can take effort to filter out unwanted crap and focus on the information we want, but it's worth it.

Believe me I read the entire thread. If that was your point, then you should have left this part out on your final review and edit.

There are a ton of members on this site that keep fish in ways I do not agree with. Different people do different things. I can educate them on not keeping large fish in small tanks, but it is up to them to decide.

stay.. you will learn as you go who is the right ones to befriend and who is not... weed them out.. make it fun.. do not let this bump discourage your times on mfk... we need good people..
