go to your settings and edit ignore list. If this forum is too pg-13 then try fishlore it is G rated over there lol

Hello; Thanks for the directions. I was able to find the edit ignore list. I added a member to the list. I will be curious as to how the threads may read with gaps created by blocked posts. It is not that I cannot handle the language, my father was a Marine. It more that the forum rules, which I reread yesterday, already prohibit what I find objectional but there has not seemed to be enough enforcement.

As a teacher I saw how lack of rules enforcement in many ways was worse than not having a rule to begin with. Students and parents would discover that some school system wide rules were not being enforced and began to feel that they could ignore the other rules. Within the more narrow range of classroom rules, I would only post rules that I fully intended to enforce. I would get my classroom rules approved ahead of time and even the enforcement classroom rules was often taken away from me when parents or students went the school principals. By the time I left teaching in 2004 the classroom was largely out of control.

I will look at the fishlore site. Another forum that has more friendly content is MyFishTank.net. I have been keeping fish for a long time, over 50 years. I got high speed internet a couple of years and began going to these fish forums. I did not know of the flaming, slaming and trolling but quickly learned. I once made some comments in a post about pitbulls and was accused of trolling, I guess because my comments did not fit the popular point of view. It took a while for me to learn what these terms stood for. This sort of reminds me of the nasty talk that went on so much during the CB craze some decades ago. Folks would blast gross language over the CB, much worse than what is on this forum. The difference is that there was no one in a position to do anything about CB language, on this forum the moderators have the ability to enforce the very rules that they have already made. It took me almost two years of being bothered by the offensive language in some posts to begin trying to bring the problem to the attention of the moderators. This thread of a member about to quit the forum because of such language seemed a place to continue. In the end the moderators will determine the tenor of this forum.

At the bottom of each post is a line with five icons for different options. On the left side next to "Blog this Post" is a little triangle. Click on the triangle and you can report any obnoxious, inappropriate, offensive, rude, trolling, spamming comments that you come across. I have found that the moderators act quickly to remove posts or give warnings, if a warning is in order. Any member coming across something offensive SHOULD DO their part and report it. Some threads start going downhill, and everyone knows it. Members will write "I want to say '....' before they close this thread." I stay away from those controversial threads that benefit no one.

I personally think MFK is the Beez Neez! Lol! I've been a member of many a forum and in my experience this one has the best moderation by far. That's not too say I haven't had a problem with a member before, but I find it's the exception rather than the rule. Heck, I once got crazy in a thread where I got so heated I posted my license and told a guy bring it. Lol! I was alot dumber then, but even then I never faulted the Mod's. There's no way a Mod can stop a post they can only address it after the fact, and in my experience they handle it you just have to make them aware of troublesome members. If you want to really get P.O.ed join a Playstation forum. Lol! The Moderation over there is ridiculous, personal attacks flow like water as well as non-constructive post. It was joining other forums that made me really appreciate MFK. It gave me some perspective. All I can suggest is grow a thicker skin and only report the truly offensive post's.

@skjl47 though the Mod's may have not gotten back to you, they've probably addressed your situation and just didn't think they needed to get back to you after doing so. Did you ask them to get back to you? Check the post you complained about and you may find it's been removed and if it has I guarantee they spoke to the member who posted it about it. Gave them a warning, perhaps even temp. banned them if the infraction was severe enough. Also talking to them through a thread is usually going to fail as they're checking the forums and it may take them awhile to revisit a thread. PM's is a better way to go, though most of what you asked is explained in the TOS. Anyway bro, if you've got any questions you could ask me and if I know I'd be glad to help you. I don't post alot, but I've been around for awhile and should be able to help you with most questions.

@Kolt, LOL! Waayy too much testosterone floating around sometimes! you could've been dealing with a psycho slasher or something.. at least you didn't post your phone# and address :D

Lol! Xander told me I was psycho for posting my license which had my address. He got rid of it told me I gotta watch what I do or I could find myself banned too or worse like you said have a psycho show up at my door. Still he was real cool about it and talked to me and I totally understood where he was coming from and I haven't had a problem on here since. I learned to let most things just roll off my back, which is what I suggest we all try to do more often.

OH- meaning, you posted an actual PIC of your license?!!? That's Crazy hilarious. I thought u meant your license number. LOL.

Yeah and this is a geeky fish fourm. That is too funny! How can you get that angry lol I mean really, we are talking about fish................. I think we are just one noch above a board gamers fourm on the geek level.

Lol! I wouldn't even say that I put us dead even with board gamers, matter of fact I think Big Bang Theory should have at least one fish nerd. Hmmm, maybe I'll write them a letter. Lol! I got mad cause the guy was insulting everyone saying that everyone on this site was broke @rse and shouldn't have fish. That only he who could afford 1000 gallon and over fish tanks should even dare fathom keeping fish. Also made some direct attacks against people who where poor financially and their rights. Then he was telling everyone he had enough money to come kick their @rse if they had something to say, that he's no internet bully he's the real deal and dared anyone to tell him where they live so he could come thru and put them in the ground. So I did, I said your so tough here's my address and my license for verification come through and show me your the real deal. I was over sensitive, because I grew up poor and it hurt because I felt like it was an attack against people like my parents who tried so hard to give me what they could inspite of it all. Still I should never have sunken to that level. It still irks me when people attack people who are less fortunate than them. I've just learned temper myself and reactions. Matter of fact it's a common insult on the PS3 forum I'm on right now, I just do my best to ignore it.
