Got a baby Arowana with eggsack...questions!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
maybe a week or two and it is the yolk which they were attached to inside the egg.

your best bet would be to leave him alone...feed when egg sack is absorbed..provide hiding places...leave lights off...remove all tankmates...

i know you probably are impatient with your new aro.. but, why chance it by adding tankmates and feeding it, when you don't have to yet? ...the chances of him surviving drops everytime you mess with the tank or when tankmates mess w/ him and when he messes w/ tankmates...

be patient...let him become the monster he's supposted to be..then you can add anything you want!..it'll be worth it ...besides, since he's a silver he'll be a monster in no time at all ;)

best of luck..

yeah im done messing with the tank...i think after his sack is absorbed he will go for that baby guppy...lol...im not quite sure on the age of my aro...but hopefully within this week or the next week his sack should be gone... *crosses fingers* ...

do many other people agree with turning his light off? at the fishstore his 2.5gallon was lit the same way mine is now...he swims over to the lit area and back to the dark area...but most of his time in the tank is spent closer to the dark side...more input on light/affects of light on my aro...thanks!!!

well, i say turn off the lights b/c my Jar used get nuts when the lights were on...now at 10"+ he still sometimes gets crazy about the lights...

i just recommended that to you b/c your aro is at such a young age and he doesnt need any more stress than he's already receiving..(getting adusted to the new tank/tankmates/you/etc.)

even if he doesnt seem stressed..why chance it? ...i wouldnt..

good idea...ill try it to see if theres any change in him...thanks!!!

any experienced baby arowana owners out there with tips?

lol

bump it to the top!

i just recorded him swimming and looking for that little guppy in the tank...he strikes it every now and then...and i saw him catch it once...but he released it after a couple seconds...i wonder why?

i was just watchin the little guy when he started to swim rapidly...then he sat on the bottom of the tank like he was chillin or something?...he got back to surface level and swims around...i think he was eating? any thoughts about what he was doin when he was sittin on the bottom...when he was sittin still i was looking at his eggsack and a vein on the sack was pulsing...i think it was contracting or something so that he could eat? just a guess...
