Got a baby Arowana with eggsack...questions!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got my aro free as a baby for some convicts still with a yolksac and best thing to do is try to keep water as still as possible, keep him in a smallish tank "kept mine in a 29 till about 4" " . I tried putting him in bigger tanks but didnt do well was always freaked .I fed mine bloodworms from the beginning .I know they get the protien they need from the sac but i always threw a lil bit o frozen bloodworms in with him and he always ate .I am far from an expert but these are the things i learned about mine , yours may be differant good luck there awesome fish some before and after pics are included

i bought my aro some tetra color flakes and hes been eating them!!! i was surprised!!! he chews for a bit then eats more!!! but only 2 flakes in one sitting...lol...his sack is getting a tiny bit smaller and he is increasing in size very slowly...should i give him some fd bloodworms?

UPDATE!
my aro's eggsack is smaller than 1cm now...he eats about 5 flakes everytime i feed him...i feed him three times a day...he has an algae eater as a tankmate ill post pics asap...

I used to have one that size a while back except mines had already absorbed its eggsac. I was told to use Hikari Carnivore sticks but to break them up into small pieces, either that or to use very small Cichlid pellets. I would feed it maybe twice a day and feed every other day, just be careful not to over feed, take your time and let it develop naturally. Also, do not feed him guppies and yes I would take out that guppy.

You should be fine though as long as there's clean water and you're feeding it the right way. I also wouldn't bother putting anything in except for maybe an Algae eater or a Pleco if you really felt it necessary. They're very vulnerable at that stage you need to give them a stress free environment.

yup i have some...ill post them in like 5-10mins...lol

here are the most up to date pics i have...
i tried feeding Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ to him...he will eat it but spit it out...i think hes used to the softer flakes...but when his sack is all absorbed ill try again...anyone think i should change the type of food from Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ to just Hikari Cichlid Gold?
