Got a baby Arowana with eggsack...questions!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hikari Cichlid Bio Gold+ is far better then Cichlid Gold. I would be very wary about feeding him when he still has a yolksac.

i would keep feeding flakes till it's out of the sack. if you want to try pellets, something softer would be better, like NLS, or soak them a little first. i definitely wouldn't downgrade to regular gold.

My thinking is that feeding it w/ the yolksack might increase the absorption time since it isn't totally relying on the sack for food.

yeah im thinking the same too...ever since he started eating flakes his sack seemed to get smaller and smaller at a faster rate than when i didnt feed him anything at all...as you can see in the pics he is almost done with his sack!!! and i cant wait!!! ill wait about half a month before i move him to a growout tank...

anyone have input on how long he should stay in his current tank? im gonna put him in a 20 Long...then slowly move up...

yeah the plan is to move from flakes to pellets and sticks...maybe some pd krill from hikari for a treat...and some feeder guppies later on...
but any input on how long should i wait after he absorbs the sack, to put him into a bigger tank?

anyone have anything to say about how long he should stay in his 5.5 after his sack is absorbed completely? i tell myself 1-2 weeks...or should i move him asap?

if you don't have any water quality issues, i would think it would be okay for a couple weeks

i paid with my credit card...lol...
im gonna guess youre asking how much did i pay?...he was $20.00...
he is getting bigger...and his silver is coming in...and he eats like crazy!!! i feed him 3-4 times daily...just 4-6 crisps per sitting...

thanks for answering my post above...about how long i should wait...i hope he live a long life!!! im planning on using 2 types of filtration in the 20gallon...and i have plenty of aeration...i have a 2 stage 10gallon filtration right now...and 2 double pumps...im going to take the foam filter from his current 5.5gallon tank and use it again in this 20gallon...

as of now the 20gal is barebottom...and i was wondering if i should put some type of gravel down and allow it to settle before anything...currently occupying the tank is 2 oscars, and 2 other cichlids...im using them to cycle the water...

so if nobody wants to read what i just wrote im pretty much asking if i should put gravel in my 20gallon...or something else to cover the bottom...will a bare bottom tank cause my aro to have drop eye? i REALLY want to prevent anything bad from happening to my aro...

there's no evidence to support either way on the bare bottom thing, i don't think.

you're not planning on putting the aro in w/ the cichlids, are you?

my black is in bare-bottom. I personally like bare-bottom for hospital tanks and growouts only.
