I don't know what you are talking about. Every single pet smart employee in the fish dept have been the most skiled and trained fish people i know. and DUH! A 4 inch fish can easilly eat a 3 inch one. Its bigger! Your over reacting because they are smarter than you. I smell jealousy!

a pleco doesnt have teeth!! how is it supposed to eat another fish of ANY size! and yes many lfs people are as dumb as rocks

did you give her the fish?

Did big question is what did you do with the pacus? I hope you didn't give them to her after she says she will get a bigger tank.

Yes. Of course i gave her the fish! I had to get rid of them. It makes me sad that people do stupid stuff with ANY animal, but it's not my place to police the pet trade. Nor can I. I can't help what she does with them and I can't help that every lfs in the country sell pacu like goldfish. If she didn't get my pacu she would have gotten other fish to do something stupid with. They will outgrow anything she puts them in just like they will out grow anything I put them in. So they are not any, well much worse off than if I'd kept them.

Im glad we dont have petmart, we have pets a home

yeh they are terrible. i wrote an email of complaint to them cos they let a krib get ripped apart, whilst alive, by its tankmates even after i pointed it out. the guy said he would speak to the manager but i found him 20secs later selling rodents to some kid. i got some bull crap answer from the chains pr dept about how they take fish care seriously and all their staff are highly trained. i laughed when i read it. it was such a cop out email. and 3" clown loaches can be sold as XL for £12, also an oscar has no mention of max size like the other fish and the texas cichlids have no warning about size or possible aggression, some bloke was looking at the texas and i happened to mention out loud that they can be aggro and hit a foot. he quickly gave up on that idea and trotted off. they are a damn joke.

also an oscar has no mention of max size

It's funny you mention that. At the same petsmart that I mentioned, they do have max size of both oscar and pacu. The tank label on both read "can grow to be 10 inches". I'd laugh about it if it weren't so sad.:(

It was an unfortunate situation, but if you couldn't keep the pacus yourself, there is very little left you can do, unless there is a LFS in the area that would be willing to take them

They forgot the rest of the sign. Can grow to be 10 inches in 6 months, then they will make 16 in the next six. It's just pathetic how these places fail to train employees, and focus on the sale VS. educating the customers.
