A strategy that too many Dr.s fall back on during an envenomation. Problem is most if not all times it is ill advised. Yeah, you may save the limb but you risk losing the patient due to systemic infection. Exposing compromised tissue to the outside world is not the best idea.

I have worked with over 20 species of arboreal vipers and have bred quite a few of them so I'm very familiar with the behavior of a gravid female. I do keep shlegs but my experience with them is somewhat limited. I can tell you right now though that your temps are extremely too high for shlegs or for any other arboreal for that matter. They should be more in the range of about 10 degrees less than what you currently have them at.
