That is a great picture, it shows where the Dr.s did the fasciotomy on the arm to prevent compartmentalization. A strategy that too many Dr.s fall back on during an envenomation. Problem is most if not all times it is ill advised. Yeah, you may save the limb but you risk losing the patient due to systemic infection. Exposing compromised tissue to the outside world is not the best idea.

In my bite protocols I have written instructions not to perform the fasciotomy unless there is is an intracompartmental pressure of 30mm/hg as measured with a Styker tonometer.

That one helps, but I've seen that picture and many others and still my interest is peaked. I'm curious, how did you personally talk yourself through seeing pictures such as that one?

just use it as motivation to never get bit.

Yellows are a color phase. They are found naturally in the wild and we not selective bred in captivity to obtain their coloration.

The pictures would be best. I have worked with over 20 species of arboreal vipers and have bred quite a few of them so I'm very familiar with the behavior of a gravid female. I do keep shlegs but my experience with them is somewhat limited. I can tell you right now though that your temps are extremely too high for shlegs or for any other arboreal for that matter. They should be more in the range of about 10 degrees less than what you currently have them at.

I completely agree. 75'ish for a ambient and maybe 85 for a hot spot. They would also be perfectly happy with a night temp in the upper 60's.
