Get an arowana with color (at least a RTG), because a green have nothing to see, you will get bored very fast AND they tend to be a little aggressive than the other Asian Arowana...

If you are willing to have someone ship from Asia to you I advice you to get alot like 5 then buy a 1500 gal tank for the aros because the price is like 300$ for shipping from China to Canada. or you can just buy Banjar Reds or Super Reds for around 60$ in China it will save you aroung 200$ including the shipping for only 1 piece.

+1

RTGs are so cheap compared to what they were even 2 years ago. If your going to have an arowana shipped to you, make it worth while and go for an RTG. They are going for $400 here, and some stores are overstocked.

My boring green:

It does everything a super-expensive one does except for the feng shui b.s. They're a great fish IMO. I'd pick a nice green over a banjar red any day, who really wants a pink fish... :screwy:

Why pay extra for a green? If you just need an arowana for feng shui... Just get a silver like me! :D Its still an arowana after all (does the same thing as a green too) :D
I payed $30 for a silver... and I saved $108 ;)

Anyway if I have the time (to maintain) for a bigger tank (which I don't) I would've bought an expensiver arowana... but just for the sheer joy.. a silver is good enough :D

The point is.. the more color the fish is, the better right? if its all dull in color, silver, black, etc etc.. it wouldn't be as eye catching and not a very good show tank... You will need the color to show off to your friend, family, and people of how nice looking your fish are... Isn't that the main reason why people kept nice colorful arowana? (beside feng shui) ^^

lol you obviously didn't look at the big picture! An average silver would out grow a 180g in a couple of years, where as an asian will stay smaller and will be fine in a 180g for 5+ years. If you can't afford a big tank then an asian (or jardini if you're on a budget) would be a much better choice. Green aro + a 180g is way cheaper than a silver + a 300+g...

TBH I couldn't care less what people think of the fish I keep, I'd pick my dull grey and black uarus over a colourful gold severum or oscar any day. If it was all about colour then everyone would keep marine tanks because there is just no comparrison between salt and fresh when it comes to colour. I guess for some people its all about the bling, but not everyone...
