Green Severum

Is there another Cichlid that gets big but not too big that would do well in a 55?

Blue Acara grow to 8inM6inF. They are in looks sorta cross of JD and GT. Blue spangles all over like JDs and an Orange seam like GTs have. There is an electric blue version as well.
I am sure there are others that could fit the bill, but being back in the hobby just over a year now I am now well versed in fish without common names. Others will chime in with some choices I am sure.

Could always go with some Convicts, an underrated very busy cichlid. Even better now a days, there are some very neat differently colored cons in the hobby.
Jeff Rapps atm has Marble cons and Marble HRPs (Honduran Red Points) and first time I have seen Platinum Honduran Red Points.

Since cons are smaller can do like 1M2f + some Corries for bottom cleaning some nice dithers to contrast the cons and add more activity to the tank.

Or could do a group of like 5 Firemouths, with dithers and bottom feeders.

What I don't understand is he is about 5 inches now and has plenty of room. I don't see why another 3 inches would make a big deal. I would think an 8 inch fish would be fine in a 55.

The JD tank I am setting up I want to go with fish the cohabit in the wild. duanes duanes has these videos of him diving with wild JDs. They live with Swordtails, easy to get and a catfish that from what I gather is not in the hobby, so with use something else. Gonna try and make my tank look like in the vid at 3:35. Woody and rocks on one side, changing to heavy planted

It's mostly due to how well the fish can turn around in the space provided. Some can bend thier bodies and turn sharper where others can't. I can't say if 4in more than thier body is enough room for them not ever owning them.

I guess I have to figure out what to do. I really liked the Severum. I want him to have plenty of room & be happy. I guess I will take him back to the fish store this week. Boo hoo.

From the checking I did it seems that a 55 in the smallest a single can live in. Just as it grows will have to up the water changes as they increase thier waste production.
