will do...i hope my other last till the morning then. do u think a coral substrate would be sufficient?

Amv I have kept dats successfully with a zero death rate so far. This is what you must remember to maintain if you want them to live. I always noticed, that a good amount of salt, or as suggested earlier, crushed coral with make the water's salinity higher in which would be a more suitable condition for the dats. The next step is to make sure to have very good filtration, especially if they are small dats. Then feed them well but do not overfeed them or else there will be ammonia. Do not add anything that will make them stressed and be sure to put some hiding spots when introducing them into a tank to make sure that they can feel more secure and become less stressed. Also if you did not cycle your tank properly, that could be the reason why the dats could be dying as well. Since there is not much beneficial bacteria, the water will have the ability to become ammonia high very fast, especially if it is a small tank. If you take this advice into account, I am sure you will have better luck the next time around. I hope this was helpful.:)

aznfab made some very good points. Bottom line is your fundamentals must be taken care of first, water cycling, sufficient areation/fileration, water quality...ect. Then adding coral substrate is fine. One more thing. Don't do heavy water changes. It will make them breath hard as they have gill fluke. But in fact they are just water sensitive and need smaller wc. Once they are established you don't even need to do frequent wc, as they will become hardy to the hard water conditions.

right now i have ph of 7 nitrate and ammonia both test fine, they or it is in a 100g with an eheim 2217, 2215 and emperor hob, and a 9 watt uv light...right now the other living one seems to be fine, hes starting to swim around and explore and he goes stable when another fish approaches...the tank has been set up for approx 3 months, inhabitants are 3 silver dollars, 1 2'' AT, 1 3'' clown, and a 4'' sveni pike, and a couple small catfish

In this case, I have reason to believe that maybe just maybe the At is bullying the baby NTT and it is stressing the poor guy to death...

thats wat i thought...the ntt just got a full belly of bloodworms and the at definitely chases him but not too badly he'll go for it and then leave it alone...do you think it will settle down after a day or two?

I doubt it. At's are known to be bulliest of the datnoid kingdom IMO
