No real interesting updates or good photos to update really.

75g, tanks to hot, tanks to cold, tanks to hot, tanks to cold...both JDs are almost completely ignoring each other....is it possible to have a male and female together that never spawn???

They seem to be more skiddish when I am around the tank lately, always hiding unless there is food.

30g, the male is gaining some size, eating and coming out a lot, not hiding at all...ate 4/6 WCM.

Tried to feed krill today for a first time, one ate it readily, one was cautious of it (maybe bc it had eyes and was whole) and one just ignored it all together.

Giant vals are dying in the 75g tank, but thriving in the 30g tank. Might be due to the excel I was using...now switched to a different brand of liquid fertilizer.

And if you can see Turk in the pic below you are just as lucky as I have been all week!

Still no pairing in my tank, Turk is approximately 5 inches or just over.

My other ebjd that I moved out of the 75g tank has caught up in size almost, he’s now 4.5 inches and might be sold in a couple of weeks...

Water change day, couple of pics, no updates.

Would really like some eggs at this point...might not be a well matched pair.

Kinda sounds like my pair I had. They did all the things but never no eggs. Your pair is the same as I had normal female, with an EB male. Yankeejack suggested that I put another male in there to give some competition and make the pairs bond stronger.

They might have eaten the eggs as well. My HRPs keep doing that. You could also miss a spawn and they eat em up while you none the wiser.
Going thru my pics of my JDs, now I see at one point Jack was in his full breeding dress, like the pics that Yankeejack has posted of him, I just didn't know at the time.20170727_161729.jpg

Now in Yankeejack's thread here

You can see the pics of Jack in his full dress looks just like he does as above. So that tells me that I missed at least one spawn.

Very well could be missing the spawns!!!

They swim together she shows darker breeding colors, I’ve not seen him as bright as yours, though he does get almost black sometimes (might be his breeding dress is dark)

They don’t dig in the sand or anything, no lip locking...they have flat rocks to spawn on, a nice big cave, lots of hiding places.

I was thinking about getting a sacrificial jd but currently have no where to quarantine so I’m hesitant

Today I purchase some HRPs for my 75g tank (bought them from a trusted tank)...gave the couple of Dempsey’s something to chase and bond over, hopefully this puts them in the mood.

So far the female is the aggressor and the male just follows her around flaring his fins to impress her.
