Growing up blue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some eggs are turning white and she is not removing them.

Yesterday there were 13 white eggs and this morning there are 18-20.

They don’t appear to be fuzzy with mould yet, I’ll leave them unless they get fuzzy.

The male isn’t the best father haha he will pretty much station himself at the barrier of his territory and sit and ensure the HRPs do not come to his side. He will go near the eggs and sometimes inside the pot with the eggs but he does not fan the eggs like the mom does.

They next couple of days are going to be the worst....waiting waiting waiting....kind of fitting for the time of year actually. I’m like a kid waiting for Santa, they should be hatched on Christmas Day.

All has been swell within the 90g tank
No problems so far with fish
Jacks still won’t breed
Plants seem to be dying back
Hondurans keep giving me lots of babies

Ebjd is 7.5 inches now, got a pretty good measurement on him when he was resting against the front glass.

Jacks are pretty inactive fish, my tank almost looks empty, some days I have to search for both jacks and they seem impossible to find at time, even though there’s not too many places to go haha

Couple of pictures of gold/pink jd and ebjd below. one close up face pic with debris that settled in his face bc he just rests in the same spot

Stupid jacks!!! Shows no interest in breeding ever....or rarely...in the last week my female has filled with eggs, my male has been shaking for her, they have been buddy buddy swimming together, hanging in the clay pot....these little two timing Aholes are planning to lay eggs while I am on vacation next week....I can feel it!!! The best I can hope for is to come home to a tank full of free swimmers ready for a water change and a feeding!!! Fingers crossed!

This will be my last post on this thread.

There are no further updates to make at this point.

Tonight the jacks have been upgraded to their final tank...a 130g.

The final measurements on the EBJD is 9 inches on the nose. I would have taken a picture of him by a measuring tape but he was thrashing in the tupper wear container I used to transfer him from one tank to the other and I was soaked and so were the floors (it was a stressful ordeal).

He came home with me on December 9th of 2017 so it is fair to say he is about two years old or just a little older.

I hope he has many years with me!
