I have one in a 120 with two Oscars. It hides all day long until the lights go out then becomes pretty active. Swims in the current of the spray bar then will patrol from one end of the tank to the other. Some times it will even ram into the O's and take nips at them. When do your lights go out? Maybe set them to turn off earlier and it will become more active when your up.

Better be careful with those Oscars. Gulpers can swallow much bigger fish.

An idea:

Catfish are nocturnal so I'd always make an artificial day/night cycle for any nocturnal fish tank.

Set the tank up somewhere dark. Run your day lights on a timer set for a 14 hour cycle when you don't want to view your fish (like at night time). Have a second set of red or blue lights that come on for the remaining 10 hour viewing period.

This is what I did for my Australian nocturnal aquarium and it worked like a treat. Catfish are seriously active at night.

I think its a good plan

Ive decided to breed guppies instead of mollies.. hopefully that's not a big difference nutritionally..

again... i only use the light when i feed... that's the only time they come out of hiding.. their most active when i turn on the lights because of it.

i cant move the tank.. i got no more areas for tanks:cry::cry:

No worries.

If at some stage you do try for an artificial night/day cycle you can throw a cover over your tank to block out the light and use it for evening viewing only.
