HAS THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA LOST IT'S MIND

In theory they kill of all the lake fish and restock but in reality they kill of water fowl that feeds on the fish and countless amphibians and reptiles which they do not restock.

When I lived in Long Island they (gvmt wildlife mngmt) sprayed "safe" mosquito spray in local waters .

Within 2 yrs after they did that I went from seeing countless toads, frogs, salamanders and lots small garter snakes every spring/summer to not seeing ONE not one ever again.

The mosquitos came back any way the other animals did not.

i see lots of bad mouthing. anyone care to discuss a better solution?

Like a few here have posted offer a bountry be it few dollars, etc for any size pike .
Set up a gvmt stand right by there and buy the pikes. Fishermen/women will flock there as its fun to fish and make few extra bucks.

Dont poison the water dont destroy it that never works .

ya im not gonna read all this thread. but ya cali is stupid im sure these fish got there the one of two ways eggs stuck to a water bird or back in the day some genious desided to stock them. we have plenty of pike here in wi on the other hand we have plenty of trout salmon pan fish and small and large mouth bass. sounds like a waste of money too me, magin that the goverment wasting our money...

there are some fisheries around here they have poisined out what they do here is catch as many as the fish they wanna keep and relocate them then kill off the lake.....thats how they do things in wi anways

HEY GUYZ!!! Guess what I read on their website? The chemical doesn't kill all the fish I guess it only applies to trout, northern pike and a few others. So I guess amphibians are ok. BUT the chemical causes cancer, hence the initial lawsuit. So what happens when fish and amphibians that have survived? You guessed they will have it in their bodies. So the fish higher up on the food chain which eat the amphians and anything which has come into contact with the chemical should have a higher concentration of it, sorta like mecury.

I'm not a big Trout fisherman, but last time I did check out Trout they where a Cold water species. And I don't recall California being that cold, but I could be wrong about that. Though I have never heard anyone talk about going to California to go Trophy Trout Fishing, though I have heard people talk about LMB Fishing their. Most people I know talk about great Trout fishing in MN, NY, AK.-Tequilla

Tequilla, first of all, trout are NOT native to MN and NY, they are native to the west coast and not east coast. California's trout fishing is probably better than anywhere east of here, there are so many rivers and creeks in nor-cal you would be surprised.

Rainbow trout is a native to the west coast.
Brown trout is from europe
Brook trout are from the east coast.

Yep, trout are definitely native to the east. Lakers and brookies are native to both MN and NY, as are other salmonids such as cisco, whitefish, and Atlantic salmon (NY only). As to California's waters being warm, much of California is very high altitude and so stays very cool- just ask the folks in Truckee!
