Have you ever ate a fish you had?

On the giant gourami thread there's someone who claimed to have eaten his giant gourami. Couple of years ago I watched an episode of "Taboo" about a guy in the UK living off roadkill. Badger head soup was his favourite I seem to recall, so anything is possible I guess.

I watched that guy....the episode I saw he was cutting up a badger that had been there "past its prime" and it took him like 30 minutes to decide it was to rotten to eat.

Probably safe to say he would not have an issue eating dead Fido

It really depends on what fish I have at the moment and the situation. I'm not gonna eat my bettas but if I had to I'll eat an Oscar or similar.

Had the maggots taken residence yet?

I've raised tilapia and pacu in aquaponic ponds for home consumption but they are fish that live in food save enclosures, have never been medicated and feed on freshly grown vegetables, flax seed and pellets designed for aquaculture. Anything from a pet store and living in an aquarium would freak me out, who know what meds they have been exposed to, not to mention diet.
