Hawaiian Dragon Moray Eel? 125g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok I'm sorry if I offended MFK, but I again I was wondering if this would be an eel I could keep in my tank.

What about for my 125g:
1xFire Coral Eel
1xTrigger
1xFoxface
1xYellow Tang
Maybe 1xHarquilen Tusk?

Maybe I know that eel by another common name...but what is a Fire Coral Eel?

Do you know the latin name for it?

Here is a link of one for sale at Diver's Den. http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?ddid=27092&siteid=20

They have the same latin name as the bannana moray eel, I'm not sure what that's about. And I think I can get them cheaper at the lfs. I kinda would like some input so I can reserve one or put it on hold at the lfs.

1xFire Coral Eel looks good
1xTrigger depends on the trigger, usually not
1xFoxface you must choose between the foxface and tang. i don't recommend them together at all
1xYellow Tang see above
Maybe 1xHarquilen Tusk? should be ok but i would go for something cheaper to begin with

see comments above

What's wrong with tangs and foxfaces? I have a sailfin and a foxface together.

I think the main point he was getting at is that the yellow tangs will often attack anything that resembles a conspecific...especially if there is only two in a tank.

If you went with a more peaceful trigger, like a Niger or Sargassum Trigger, you would be fine. To tell you the truth...Harlequins may be on the more expensive side, but they are not demanding at all.

I think the key to success here is to make sure you add the fish in the proper order. The Harlequin should be one of the first because they are very shy and surprisingly passive...then, depending on the final decision with the other guys, add the more aggressive fish last.

So the trigger and tang would be last, foxface(I already have) and tusk first, and eel in the middle?

Yeah...that's how I would do it.

When I first started in salt, I added a wrasse to my tank too early and it was the biggest pain in the @$$ trying to introduce anything else. :nilly:

Yes it will hurt if the Eel Bites you....get a 180 and a 200 Gallon for an EEL like that a 200 Gallon would be better.
