hello everyone I am new to the Group

so i hope i can get some answers

i have a 10" dovii male i got him from a LFS when he was about 6". he is currently in a 125gallon tank with no tank mates..wll he had some when i first bought him ..but now hes the lone wolf. so the issue im seeing with him hes not active at all and stays in one corner of the tank. He swims the other way when he see's my hand. I feed him daily (Hikari pellets/sometimes live food and omega one frozen food ) and eats just fine.

ive tried changing up his landscape and still find a way to stay close to the corners. and just recently talked to someone at my LFS where i bought him from, he recommended i buy some convicts so he could chase and get him back to normal ...which helped but after he destoryed them he went back to being his normal self ... any one with dovii have this problem.

thank you -Jonny

I don't think you have a problem. I also think your Dovi is perfectly normal. Not sure why the LFS to you to add the convicts. Appreciate the joy that he gives you and the personality that he has. Some fish are more socialable then others.

This Dovii is sad and boring because there is nothing in that tank which excite him. Put some fast swimmers and something which gives him some excitement and then see the magic. But you will be doing this on weekly basis. :p lol

Tape a mirror to the side of the tank or let a ping pong ball float at the top of the water. The first lets him be able to flare up and try to 'claim' territory from the supposedly new 'male' in the tank. The second just gives him something to push around or practice his predator instincts on.

How'd it go with my suggestions?

You could just leave it up if you want. Especially if it's having a positive effect on him.
