if this is correct, then my stuff is way out of date, it is at least 6 years old, was given to me by a friend, so i wouldn't be surprised if it was 10 years old
 
Supposedly the last 4 numbers on the bottle is the manufacturing date (month year) but I find that hard to believe since I recently bought ammonia test since I ran out. On the bottle it say 1008 and 0806 depending on which side you look at. Seeing as how its brand new I find it hard to believe Petsmart is carrying several year old product that sells frequently.
 
Just for the heck of it I would buy a fresh nitrate test. :) According to your water changes, your nitrates should be less than 5ppm by now, and certainly not in the red zone.

yes, I am gonna go get new one tomorrow. but.......my tap water tested perfect? but what is 5 bucks, as opposed to losing my buddy?
